"The opportunity that OFY gave me changed my life. Not only did attending OFY take me away from the very negative experience of a crowded public school and its social pressures, it also let me study – for the first time in my life – whatever I wanted to, without any disciplinary pressure. Taking a class on poetry, reading through the packets on my own, I was absolutely blown away. I had never read poetry before that time, but I immediately knew that it was what I wanted to do with my life. OFY gave me that opportunity and I ran with it, reading as much poetry, literature, and philosophy as I possibly could. Because of that opportunity, I was inspired to continue my education at a local community college, next transferring to a UC for my bachelor's degree, then going on to complete a PhD at Yale and take up a position as a professor of literature at the University of Chicago.”
"I learned so much about myself while attending OFY! I became more confident because I had the most supportive teachers and staff members who believed in me and led me to success! Not only that, but I would like to thank OFY for all of the friends that I've made. My friends and I are such a diverse group that I'm sure if we went to a regular school, we would've NEVER spoken to each other. At OFY everyone, regardless of their past, is accepted and nobody judges you. I would like to thank OFY for all of the amazing opportunities they provided, I always felt well taken care of at OFY. Options For Youth will always be my second home! Thank you OFY!"
"I want to thank OFY for giving me the opportunity to change my life. When I arrived at their doors I was failing every class and was at the point of dropping out of school altogether. With their help I earned a Ph.D., wrote a book and became a professor at one of the best universities in the world. I will be forever grateful."
